The Sacrament of Reconciliation/Confession offers forgiveness from God for sins committed. The sacrament reconciles the sinner with the Church. Through sacramental absolution, God grants pardon and peace to the sinner, reconciling the sinner with Himself.  The sacrament calls for reconciliation with others.
