Baptism

The sacraments of Christian initiation—Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist—lay the foundations of every Christian life. (CCC 1212) Baptism which is the beginning of new life; Confirmation which is its strengthening; and the Eucharist which nourishes the disciple with Jesus Christ’s Body and Blood for transformation in Christ. (CCC 1275)

Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from original sin and reborn as children of God; we become members of Christ Body and are incorporated into the Church. We are made witness of Jesus Christ and sharers in the Church’s mission.

The celebration of infant baptism is scheduled after the parents have completed the required pre-baptism formation session.

Parishioners of St. Caspar Parish can schedule an infant baptism by contacting the Parish Office (419-337-2322) after having completed the pre-baptismal formation session.

Non-parishioners must have the permission of their home parish Pastor for a baptism to take place at St. Caspar Parish. They must have completed the required pre-baptism formation session. A short letter from the Pastor giving permission and assuring a pre-baptismal formation session has been completed is all that is necessary.
